Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health is the Sultanate's main agency responsible for provision, coordination and stewardship of the health sector. MoH is required to ensure overall development of the health sector per se and in relation to other key social sectors. In keeping with this role, MoH acts as the principal architect of health system design and takes responsibility for achieving inter-sectoral coordination. It develops policies and programmes for the health sector. It implements these in coordination with all other related ministries, health services institutions under the government as well as in the private sector.

Under the umbrella of the Oman Medical Association are 14 specialised societies covering major medical fields. These are the Oman Anesthesia & Critical Care Society, Oman Biomedical Scientist Society, Oman ENT Society, Oman Dental Society, Oman Dermatology Society, Oman Diabetes Society, Oman Famco Society, Oman Neurology Society, Oman Neurosurgical Society, Oman Ophthalmology Society, Oman Orthopaedic Society, Oman Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Society, Oman Public Health Society, and Oman Respiratory Society.

The OCCI is a public utility organization whose goals are to regulate the trade and industrial interests, their representation, development and act to defend them in various fields. The OCCI makes all possible efforts to stimulate the country's economic activity through its active and continuous participation in implementing various development plans aimed at diversifying the inflow sources of the national income. This is achieved by encouraging the private sector companies and establishments to set up and execute industrial, agricultural and commercial development projects.

 Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia

The APHM co-ordinates the activities of private hospitals in Malaysia and facilitates the delivery of a high standard of healthcare to the public. Among its other major objectives is to make representations to and to co-operate with the Ministry of Health and other agencies concerning the delivery of healthcare to the public and the promotion and preservation of health and prevention of disease. Membership to the APHM is open to all private hospitals in Malaysia that are licensed under the Private Healthcare Facilities & Services Act 1998. The association presently has a total of 111 member hospitals.
