Omanexpo launches classic cars for first time in Motor Show 2010
AMEinfo.com
Tuesday, 09 November 2010

The automotive industry in Oman as well as in the rest of the Middle East region has come a long way since the very first car was launched with the most basic features and design. Today, the demand for innovative and advanced car functions and features such as safety and sustainability and new technologies that aid navigation and enhance fuel efficiency, as well as design-led concepts, are what most car manufacturers take into consideration.

Despite the prevalence of vehicles with these revolutionary designs and features, the cars of the past, particularly classic cars, are as much worthy of recognition and attention. And this is what Omanexpo highlights in its upcoming Motor Show, which will be held from 2-5 December 2010 at the Oman International Exhibition Center.

The 15th Oman International Motor Show guarantees to be the most innovative and most exciting automotive events in the region. For the first time in Oman, it will introduce a Classic Car competition, where over 100 model cars of different makes, designs, and brands representing the Classic Car era will be exhibited. An awards ceremony, where prizes for different categories will be given, will also add more glitz to this feature.

Apart from this new section, the show will also showcase an equally interesting display of the hottest car models, ranging from SUVs to four-wheel drives and saloon cars to luxury, sports and concept cars, as well as the latest car parts and accessories that will be introduced for the first time in the sultanate. It will also introduce other new sections, such as the Auto Shoppers Zone, which will give car owners the opportunity to purchase spare parts and other items for their vehicles; and the Outdoor Adventure Zone, which will showcase the unique features and capabilities of different brands of four-wheel drives.

A unique brand of fun sport and arts and entertainment will also be introduced by Step Up Oman, where visitors will be amused by music performances, soap football pitch games, a bikers' show, a skateboarders competition, a graffiti competition, and many more activities.

"We are very excited for this year's edition of Motor Show, as we are pioneering the classic car concept. We are proud to say that this is, by far, the only organized international event of its kind where local and international collectors will be making their debut in Oman. We are looking at organizing a much-bigger event and bringing in more international collectors, plus introducing more innovative concepts in our next Motor Show," said Nasser Diab, general manager of Omanexpo.

Motor Show 2010 is endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce and the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI). Invader Technologies, Japan is supporting the show as a Platinum sponsor; Ziebart Tidy Car as a Gold sponsor. Its official logistics partner is Agility.
