Latest ICT and telecom technologies on display at Arab Telsat 2007 |

Muscat, Oman, 28 October 2007 – Arab Telsat 2007, a specialised conference and exhibition on telecommunications and information technology, was formally inaugurated today by H.E. Al Sayyid Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Busaidy, Chairman of the State Audit Institution, in ceremonies held at Golden Tulip Hotel and the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb.
The inauguration ceremony started with the official opening of the Arab Telsat Conference, which was highlighted by the keynote address of H.E. Ahmed Bin Suwaidan Al Balushi, Chairman of the Arab Telsat Advisory Committee. It was followed by the keynote addresses of top officials representing the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Information Technology Authority (ITA), Omantel, Oman Mobile, and Nawras.
The distinguished guests then proceeded to the Oman International Exhibition Centre for the official opening of the Arab Telsat Exhibition, which showcases a wide range of telecommunications and ICT technologies and solutions from over 30 local and international companies. The chief guests then toured the exhibition together with ambassadors, top government officials, senior executives of participating companies and other industry professionals.
Among the range of products, equipment and technologies on display at the exhibition are next-generation networking systems, fixed-line and wireless communication technologies, network cabling products and solutions, satellite communication services, solar equipment for the telecom and ICT industry as well as fiber optic cables and accessories, value-added telecommunication services, and security systems and solutions.
For its part, the Arab Telsat Conference, which has attracted the participation of many industry professionals, will mainly concentrate on three major topics: Evolution to 4G Networks, Triple/Quad/Play (Convergence), and Wireless Security. The two-day international conference is being held in partnership with the ITU Arab Centre of Excellence, and it gives the participants the opportunity to learn more about important new developments and emerging technologies.
The conference timings are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 28 and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 29. The exhibition timings, on the other hand, are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 28-29 and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 30.
The Arab Telsat exhibition features all three telecom operators in the sultanate and other leading companies in Oman as well as a large number of international exhibitors from countries like France, Germany, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, UK, USA, and the UAE. Visiting the exhibition will enable industry professionals to keep abreast with the latest products and technologies now available in the market and to find out what’s new in the telecom and ICT industry.
Jointly organised by Omanexpo LLC and Trifoil Expo LLC, Arab Telsat 2007 is mainly supported by Omantel and Oman Mobile as diamond sponsors and by Nawras and Huawei Technologies as gold sponsors. It is also officially supported by the Geneva-based International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Information Technology Authority (ITA), the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM). Muscat, Oman, 22 October 2007 – A large number of industry organizations and major companies -- including all telecom operators in Oman -- have given their strong support to Arab Telsat 2007 Exhibition and Conference, which will be held on October 28-30 at the Golden Tulip Hotel and the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb.
"Arab Telsat 2007 will highlight all the latest developments in the telecommunications and ICT industry, and we are highly encouraged by the backing we have received from companies and organisations that play a leading role in the industry,” said Melwin D’Cunha, project manager of the event, which is jointly organised by Omanexpo LLC and Trifoil Expo LLC.
